however, i was unaware that when you delete it off your profile,

awkward:

-having a rudolph the red nose reindeer nose. thank you giant zit. i feel like i’m twelve again.

-not knowing what name to write on my papers. some classes know that i’m alexa zurcher, others my maiden name. in church i’m sister zurcher, to the bank ms. call. one day i should probably change them all and figure it out. seriously, i’m having an identity crisis!

-did i mention that i was four days late last month? yes, four whole days. we may have been freaking out wondering if any zurchlings were in the very near future. but alas, we still have plenty of time till cute little chubbers come our way. whew.

-sulking in iggy’s watching the game, and being surrounded by drunk, happy utes fans. perhaps it wasn’t awkward, but more disappointing for blue and white fans like us.

awesome:

-whole day of classes cancelled? yes please. that will always be awesome.

-buying my history paper and writing the analysis the day before the due date. then returning the book of course. yay for being a dedicated student.

-having leftover pizza and hot dogs for dinner……for a whole week! ok, maybe it’s not so awesome. husband pretends it is awesome, just to make me feel better about not being the sterotypical food-on-the-table-when-hubs-walks-in-the-door-the-house-is-always-clean-and-never-have-to-wash-the-laundry-five-times-when-it-gets-left-in-the-washer wifey wife.

-but to make up for that, i have dinner cookin in the kitchen. woo!

-husband’s playing his guitar right now. hot.

-caramels, candy corn, and pumpkins are here! welcome fall :)

happy happy birthday little brother! i can’t believe how grown up you are! i remember when we used to throw our corn across the table (that one didn’t end very well), or when we would sneak outside to play in the mud (that one didn’t end well either). And then onto when we were a bit older and we would sneak outside at midnight to jump in the rain puddles. Thanks for being my partner in crime! Can’t believe you’re seventeen and almost a foot taller than me now! Love ya bro!

awkward:

-you know that most annoying ringtone on your phone? that’s what i have set for 2:30pm everyday, to remind me to take my birth control (no little zurchlings yet). pretty sure it sounded like an alien invasion as it went off during sunday school last week. *slowly sunk in my seat*

-husband’s phone started making noises right after mine did. pretty sure they’re going to kick us out of sunday school.

-forgetting that, due to this incredibly wonderful weather, everyone in the neighborhood keeps their windows open. and can hear everything from inside our apartment. oooops.

-finding out that i’ve been walking up campus (darn those stairs) and missing two busses in the time doing so, when my classroom is probably twenty steps from the lower campus bus stop. b laughed, hard, when i finally came to realization.

-slyly glancing at the woman’s texts as she sat next to me on the bus. i had a freak out moment (literally) when i couldn’t understand any of the words she was typing. then i realized, it was in a different language. don’t worry guys, i can still read english.

-this country song. really? rap mixed with country doesn’t work people.

awesome:

-seeing bill nye the science guy (bill! bill! bill!) he was so cute in his red bow tie. pretty sure all my childhood dreams came true.

-playing betty/martha/wifey this week. i actually cooked dinner and it wasn’t even boxed mashed potatoes or chinese takeout. andddd, i made pumpkin bread. did i mention, i didn’t burn anything? nope. nothing. nada.

-my husband promised to give me guitar lessons this weekend. after we go to sushi of course. (shhhhh, he doesn’t know it yet :)

-movie marathons while hanging in our undies and eating an entire box of pizza. mmm, mmm.

Awkward:

-These crazy ~~dreams~~ nightmares I keep having about being forced to go back to single’s ward. Seriously, it’s freaking me out.

-Speaking of single’s ward, I keep seeing these people that I knew from my ward last year. So I wave. And they all give me that who-the-heck-are-you-you-kinda-look-familiar-but-not-really-so-I’m-going-to-give-you-a-weird-fake-smile-and-walk-away look

- Buying four books and spending over four hundred and fifty dollars. And that’s not even half of what I need.

-When we are doing the dishes and our kitchen sink starts filling up, we turn our garbage disposal on. Water seriously shoots up. I had it hit my face once. Gross.

-I’m crossing the street to where my bus is parked and it closes it’s doors and starts to drive away. So I run, sprint, whatever you want to call it, really fast to catch up with that dang bus. Oh, and I was yelling. While panting. Attractive, right? The bus driver looks in his rearview mirror with his beady eyes, laughs, and keeps driving. Ok, maybe he didn’t laugh. But I swear he saw me. Defeated, I turned around to a huge group of people looking at me like whoa, you crazy, outta-shape lady.

- I was trained to teach water aerobics the other day. Pretty sure these senior ladies, who are triple my age, kicked my butt. I’m actually sore today.

- We can’t send out mail through our mailbox. Oh, we can get mail, but we can’t send it. It’s a sad, pathetic joke! If you want to send our mail, you have to drive a few blocks on University to get the the post office. It’s a good thing I just hop the fence and use the other apartment complex’s mailbox.

-When you are standing in the bathroom of our apartment and the people below us are in the bathroom also, you can hear everything that is going on down there. Literally, everything. Yesterday while I was getting ready I heard their kids blowing bubbles in the bathtub, the dad hollering at those kiddos to get out, and…other things…

Awesome:

- Picnics on our front lawn. I love our little culdesac. And our cute little neighbors that let me borrow their kids when I’m feeling particularly baby hungry.

- During the first week of school, the bookstore has buckets of candy and apples, for students, for free. Then random clubs hand out popcorn and other free food. Needless to say, I’ve had my breakfast and lunch covered for a week!

- My brother gave me and B Rascal Flatts Tickets as a wedding gift (squeal!), and B agreed to go, even though he hates country. Aww.

- Since being on birth control, my tots have grown a whole size. I had to go bra shopping. Too much information? Sorry. Being particularly small chested before and having no hope whatsoever, this is quite a miracle. Quite awesome.

- My history class was cancelled for a week, for no particular reason. When asked what we should do over the “break,” our professor answered with well, you can read if you want, but we’ll really start the book next week. Same day my ethics and values class was cancelled for the time being due to technical difficulties with the computer. One class all day? I’ll take it.

- 4 days into the semester, I’ve already reverted back to my sweats and tennies.

- We’re leaving for St. George in approximately eight hours. Zac’s baptism, photo shoots, and lots and lots of family time. Wooo!

the help

b and i saw the help last weekend. after reading and rereading the book, i was worried that the movie wouldn't be as good. i was wrong. the movie was absolutely incredible, even b enjoyed it! i'm pretty sure that we'll be back a few more times to see it, before it hits our shelf.

The first day of school is always my favorite. I feel like Rory Gilmore, I’m always up and ready long before it’s time to go. So I sit with my backpack and newly sharpened pencils anxiously awaiting. Ask B, I sat on the couch this morning all ready to go – for 45 minutes! Cinnamon rolls (from the can, mmmm) are a first day of school tradition and necessity - I’ve had them on each first day since I was in kindergarten! My classes today were easy peasy not to mention cut short half the time. It was wonderful seeing friends I missed over the summer and oh how I love new notebooks and pens. seriously.

Flashback! Remember my first day last year? I forgot to mention I got my future husband’s number that day. Ok, ok Meg really got it for me. Meg and I were reading our books after school in the pool (with our hippo floaties of course. sometimes wally world has the best finds). B walked out of the gym and teased each other for a bit. Possibly flirted. Who knows. I tend to have a thing for sweaty, hot men. I considered us great friends already, even though I hadn’t even known him for a week. Remember how he fed us food? And we threw pudding at eachother’s faces? Yeah, that’s borderline BFF’s right there. So, being that ~~we were now friends, and~~ he was dang attractive, I invited him to roast s’mores and swim with us that night, as a “we-made-it-through-our-first-day-of-college” celebration. Then came the questions: when and where? Do you really think that I had gotten that far? I basically made up the event so I could see him…in a swimsuit. So Meg, being the smartie, had him give me his number. Maybe ordered him to give me his number? He agreed. And we continued our flirt-a-thon that evening. I even shared my hippopotamus floatie with him. Now that my friends, is love. :) XO

It’s my last week of summer. How did I spend it?

Wednesday: Date night for free pie with my hubs, Kians, and her man.

Yesterday: Finished The Help for the third time and soaked up some sun.

Last night: Chinese take-out.

This morning: Folded laundry and blog stalked.

Currently: Brownie chocolate chip cookies and milk, in my favorite yellow cup no less.

Tonight: watching The Help with my honey.

Palmyra, NY

While in New York, we had the opportunity to spend a day in Palmyra. It was absolutely beautiful. Upstate New York is incredibly gorgeous, and GREEN! I don’t think I’ve ever seen so much green before, perhaps because I grew up in Arizona and St. George where green is scarce. The Church History Sites were incredible. B’s family are only an hour away from such significant places and grew up frequenting these places. How cool is that? We visited the Hill Cumorah where Joseph Smith found the plates, the printing shop where the Book of Mormon was printed, and the Smith home. We also had a chance to see Alvin Smith’s grave and do a session at the Palmyra Temple. My favorite part of the day was visiting the Sacred Grove, where God the Father and His son appeared to Joseph in 1820. It is indeed a sacred place. It was an amazing to be standing on the very ground where the restoration of our church began.

Last weekend I had my first adventure in rock climbing. I was a little nervous, but it ended up being a blast! One of B’s coworkers, Jarin (the one who helped with our wedding announcements!) has a bunch of equipment and invited us to tag along with him and his darling kiddos. Pretty sure his daughter Sierra is one hundred times better than I am and she’s only five! B and I have already decided we need some equipment of our own – we love rock climbing! :)

The rest of our wedding day was amazing. We didn’t have a big luncheon like most Utahns do in the cultural hall of the church. Instead we had a very small luncheon with immediate family and grandparents at Olive Garden. It was absolutely delicious. Our reception was a blast! The venue we chose was simply gorgeous already, so I didn’t want to ruin it with an overload of décor. We just kept it simple. I’m not a big flower person either and I only wanted a few simple vases of flowers. The fabric for the table runners was one of my favorite things. Who doesn’t love yellow chevron? We had three tables of food. One of Hors d'oeuvres (good cheese, crackers, fruit, spinach dip, etc), a dessert table with tarts and a cake buffet, and a kids table (licorice, organic fruit pushup popsicles, cupcakes, and other goodies). Oh and lemonade. That’s a must at summer weddings. Our wedding cake was smaller (compared to most wedding cakes) and simple. It was exactly what I wanted. Plus, it was red velvet cake with buttercream frosting. Can’t go wrong with that! The photo booth was a hit. We love looking back at what everyone wrote. Pictures are way more fun than the traditional sign in book. As a wedding favor we had cd’s for everyone to take. It included all of our favorite songs that we always jam out to together. As much as I absolutely loved our wedding, I’m glad the planning and the stress is over (and my mother would whole-heartedly agree! check out here blog here for some of the pre wedding craziness). Considering that most of it was “do-it-yourself,” you can see why we’re so happy to be DONE! And now for the pictures, enjoy!

wedding day {part one}

we seriously couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day. the days leading up to the wedding were overcast and stormy. day of: eighty six degrees and sunny, not a cloud in sight. the whole day was absolutely perfect, but the temple was my favorite part. getting married in the salt lake temple was something i have dreamt of since i was little, and i can honestly say it was a million times better than i could ever imagine. it truly was the happiest day of my life. being sealed to my best friend for time and all eternity with all of our dear friends and family to celebrate with us was pure bliss. our sealer was a cute little man named ed davis. although i tried, it was hard to pay full attention to what he was saying. b and i couldn’t take our eyes off each other, nor wipe the grins off our faces as we knelt across the alter from each other. once again i had the confirmation from the spirit that heavenly father approved of my decision and was happy to have his children in his holy house. after hugs, smiles, and lots of pictures, it was finally just the two of us as we drove to the luncheon together. we seriously couldn’t believe that we were actually married! our new life together had officially begun. now enough of my rambling, please enjoy an overload of temple pictures. reception pictures to follow! :)

saturday was our lovely date night. we used our two for one bowling coupon, our gift certificate to pizzeria 712, and our movie gift card to see captain america. yay for coupons! i, as usual, stunk at bowling and lost, twice! dinner was fantastic. by far the best pizza i’ve ever had west of new york city. if you live in utah county, go there now. i even enjoyed captain america. i may have closed my eyes during the fighting scenes, but who couldn’t love the girl power, the vintage outfits and red lipstick?

and a camping we went. oh my, we had a blast. at the first campsite i saw a snake. we immediately high-tailed it back to the car in search of a new site. we’re both a little squeamish when it comes to snakes. ew. the second campsite was perfect minus the non existent picnic table. (we forgot our camping chairs. oh and cups. genius.) we had little squirrel friends visit us a breakfast and my darling husband cooked us some smoked pork. heaven. we may have had some coke for every meal (addicts? perhaps) and went on an amazing hike. i was huffing and puffing the whole way (out of shape? oh yeah. but we’ll blame it on elevation). the s’mores are always my favorite part. reeses, kitkats, cookies and cream bars, and extra large marshmallows. mmm, mmm, mmm.

::we’ve been super busy with work and unpacking! (i’m going to use that as my excuse as to why i’m a terrible blogger) and yes, our apartment is still filled with boxes and piles in the corner (and i swear the piles are growing!) one day we’ll invite you all over, it these boxes ever disappear.

::at work i always people watch. the joy of being a lifeguard is that i actually get paid to do it. while sitting in my chair one day, i began watching one family. the mom was popping the zits off the dad’s back and then wiping the puss with their daughter’s swim dress. ew. ew. ew.

::i revamped my photog blog. take a looksie here.

::our new ward is wonderful. our neighbors are wonderful. everyone is incredibly friendly and welcoming. the only bad thing: everybody has a baby. it’s basically impossible to not be completely baby hungry by the time relief society is over. i’m hoping we get a primary or nursery calling so i can get my baby fix every week. (**no, this is not any sort of hint or announcement. no little zurchlings for us for a long time)

::our dear friends pat and carli have moved! we already miss them and baby alex like crazy. trip to florida soon? i think so!

::i’m loving this summer rain. every day when the thunder and lightning rolls in, i sit on my front porch and watch our little culdesac fill with water.

::speaking of water, our bathroom floor was covered in it yesterday. our toilet overflowed five times. five. ewww. this morning when it actually flushed, we both stared at it with our mouths open. seriously.

::after filling two carts with goodies at walmart, we’re fully equipped for our little camping trip this weekend. s’mores, chili dogs, card games, we got it. hope you all enjoy your weekend (and last few days of july! where did the month go??)

Sorry I’ve been MIA lately. We’ve been quite busy unpacking and working, plus we have yet to get the internet. In between organizing and cleaning our apartment, we’ve found some time for Friends marathons (pretty sure that happens every week….we love our Friends), shopping at DI and finding the greatest treasures, date nights at Los Hermanos (one of our favs) and a session at the Mount Timpanogos Temple. B treated me to breakfast in bed on Sunday morning (isn’t he sweet?), and after opening all our bills, i doodled on his toesies. We finally made it to the right ward Sunday (after ward hopping a few times) and couldn’t be happier meeting new friends and neighbors. We also have a new addiction: limes! They’re all cut up and frozen in the freezer. We pull them out and put them in everything: water, coke, crystal light…it’s delicious! We ended this wonderful week by eating a half package of oreos and peanut butter….and a workout plan for the week. :)

my husband loves electronics and has the coolest toys. seriously. for instance, he owns an underwater digital camera. sa-weet. we took it on all our fun water adventures. the resort we stayed at included a whole bunch of fun activities, including kayaking! we tried to paddle out to eddie murphy’s private island. private. island. it ended up being a little too far out there. we also took a snorkeling trip. we had a blast. and check out that smiling fish! :)

we’re backkkk! two tired and sunburned newlyweds. :) how was our trip? super. duper. awesome. we went to breezes bahamas (an all inclusive resort) and lounged by the beach and poolside grill all day long, sipped more (virgin) pina coladas than i can even count, ate ice cream at every meal (maybe that was just me), and had the time of our lives. and gosh, we love, love, love being married. please enjoy the first round of pictures (don’t worry, there’s lots more to come :)

Oh, hello, all of Alexa’s readers! I am very excited to be doing a guest post over here on he and I while Lex is on her honeymoon! I’m not gonna lie, when Lex asked me to do this I was significantly surprised! Never before have I done a guest post. I am, however, extremely happy to be here. But you didn’t come to Alexa’s blog to read about me, (you can visit me over at here though!) so I thought I’d do a post on the woman herself.

Raise your hand if Miss Alexa Call is one of your role models. Alexa and I got pretty far back, and let me just tell you, she has been a role model of mine since the third grade. We’d be out a recess and Sam Wilde and Eric Dahl would be teasing us, so I’d come up with something ~~extremely~~ ~~clever~~ to say to make fun of them, i.e. “Eric Dahl is a DOLL!” (I thought I was funny…) But Alexa was always hesitant in poking fun at others. I always admired that about her, straight from the beginning. That’s why I chose her to be my best friend. We were such legit best friends too, with necklaces and everything. One said “best” and the other said “friends” and Chantay Fry had the third necklace that said “forever.” What I’m saying is, we could all learn a lot from Alexa about being nicest people we can be.

Alexa never forgets birthdays or Thanksgiving! Or Valentine’s Day.

I remember that she even gave me a valentine on Valentine’s Day one year.

Alexa made me the cutest little scrapbook before I moved out of St. George in the 9^th grade. I still have it sitting on my dresser because I love it so much.

Alexa and I have had many, many, many good times. I couldn’t even tell you how many times we watched the Sandlot together, or Goosebumps, and had Disney movie parties…Alexa is always up for anything and everything. To this day, all one of us has to say is “Don’t be a GOOFUS!” and we both bust up laughing. [If you haven’t seen the Sandlot, I highly suggest you watch it this instant so you can know what I’m talking about.]

One year for Christmas, Alexa gave me a bunch of scrapbooked quotes. I still have this one, and it still resides on my magnet board in my room. I really look up to Alexa spiritually. I haven’t hung out with or even seen Alexa in what feels like centuries, but I know she still is the same girl that always puts Christ and the Gospel first. I couldn’t even tell you how wonderful it is to have friends like that.

I think now is the appropriate time for all of you to leave comments saying something about Alexa that you look up to. Wouldn’t that be a good welcome-back-from-the-honeymoon present? So come on! Get on it!

and i immediatley decided to post on boys... because I really like boys.

So I found this really cool quote the other day and I fell in love with it.

and I can totally relate to this.. why? Because I have found a man who's weirdness is totally and completley compatible with mine. (Now that is rare..) He and I are like seriously meant to be. He talks all the time, he even laughs at my jokes.. at MY JOKES and not just at me, but with me, he is so hiliarious. He watches strange pop-tart cats on youtube..(don't ask)...and he also has some pretty strange dance moves. but that makes him awesome.

We have many fond memories together.. late night adventures, cold nights where his jacket was being worn by me, many many slow dances, cute texts to my friends about me, watching his baseball games, playing the "Question Cup Game" with capri suns, playing Catch Phrase (we dominated at that), and other specifics i can not mention for my sake (things my mother does not know about...hahah. just kidding mom.)

And for his physical attributes... 

His hair, his eyes, his smile, his face, he's tall-ish, and oh-so-muscualar. I don't think he could be any more better!

So basically i just really like this man.

they invited us to share their leftovers. i fell in love with his cooking and blue eyes.

he gave me his phone number.

i was beyond delighted.

our first date. he fed me my favorite food,

let me win/cheat at miniature golf, and held my hand while we star gazed.

he cooked me dinner.

we kissed. i couldn't stop smiling.

our fourth [official] date.

we tried to find a place to demolish our pumpkins

that my friends is my day in photos. actually my last three days. pathetic, right? while everyone else in this apartment complex is down by the pool, i’m stuck inside wearing my most comfy sweats. i think i broke the record for time spent facebook stalking. i finally got off my sick butt and painted my toe nails. then i got all tired and gross again and went right back to the couch.

on a happier note, we’re to single digits in the countdown. (holllly cow!) this weekend we’re heading off to st george so i can go through the temple and then a pre-wedding party with all my neighbors. my mom has been baking up a storm all week long and my dad has been working hard on finishing the landscape on our backyard. it should be quite the par-tay!

we are so in love with our new apartment. it’s not completely decorated yet, and heavens, we’re not even close to being unpacked, but i thought i would give you a brief tour of the new place. one day the frames will be filled, pillows will be sewn, and curtains will be hung, but until then, here’s a sneak peek!

our dear friends mandi and nick got married last week. we couldn’t be happier for them! their reception was absolutely gorgeous! everything was perfect, the cake, the couple, the location. not to mention they had cake pops as favors. pretty sure brian and i had (more than) our fair share. :) the whole night we just couldn’t believe that the next reception we’ll be at will be our own! 11 days and counting.

we started out the birthday celebration yesterday with some crepes for breakfast. after breakfast, i just couldn't wait, it was present time! after a long few months of keeping my mouth shut, i finally got to surprise him with my gift: the asus transformer tablet that he's been talking about for-ev-er. he was pretty dang surprised. :) we continued the partying at lagoon with dan, liesell, and the kiddos at lagoon (yay for knowing lagoon employees - thank you kenz!) we rode rides all evening long, made a few loops around the lazy river, raced on the slides, took a log ride and lost a shoe, and enjoyed the perfect weather.
